Manchester United created history against Brighton and Hove Albion but the kind of history that no one wants. Brighton picked up a 1-0 win thanks to a Pascal Gross header and this result meant that United had lost to all three newly promoted sides, away from home, for the first time in the Premier League era.
The Red Devils did switch things around as Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku could not play due to injuries, however, their replacements, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, failed to impress.
The win meant more for Brighton as they reached the important 40-point mark and with games to come away at Manchester City and Liverpool. The three points could not have come at a better time.
United should still finish second in the league but should we perform in the same manner in the final two games of the season, Spurs and Liverpool could still overtake us.
Jose Mourinho was extremely upset with the performance and lashed out at a few players. Even Twitter had a bit of a go at the team.
Here are some of the tweets from the social networking site.
Since October, United have suffered abysmal defeats almost every month: Huddersfield, Bristol City, Spurs, Newcastle, Sevilla, West Brom and now Brighton. Like one of those neverending horror franchises. #mufc

United have lost to all 3 promoted teams this season. It’s unacceptable! It’s also easy to blame Mourinho for the defeats, but the players really need looking at. The players have the wrong mentality walking on the pitch thinking the game is already won!! #MUFC

To quote the legendary Sir Matt Busby:
“I never wanted Manchester United to be second to anybody. Only the best would be good enough.”
He must be turning in his grave right now

After Mourinho’s comments tonight, it feels like this could be the end of the road for Anthony Martial at Manchester United. #mufc pic.twitter.com/Zkk2U29nxd

Whilst on topic of effort; Sanchez may not have had the scintillating start to his #MUFC tenure that we anticipated, but whenever I watch him play, irrespective of his wastefulness, I see a man who tries hisoff every single minute of every single game. For that alone, I❤️him.

Mourinho has a simple demands:
He expects you to be consistent.
Consistent in training and consistent in every match. Our fans will however abuse him in favor of their favorite players who show glimpses of greatness.
Consistency wins you titles and not glimpses. #MUFC

#BHAFC fans celebrating tonight after victory over #MUFC, but season not over. Each position higher up the league is worth an extra £1.9 million prize money to club, so finishing 11th instead of 17th is an extra £11.4 million for Chris Hughton’s transfer budget for next season.

Mourinho: “Maybe now you understand why I play some players more than others and you won’t ask all the time why A, B and C don’t play more.”

Shows you how far down United have gone since Sir Alex retired!
