Castles claims £65,000-a-week Man United star has told friends that he expects to be elsewhere next season

Duncan Castles, a transfer expert, has suggested that Anthony Martial has already told his friends that he doesn’t expect to be at Manchester United next season.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t The Express) Castles also stated that there is no definite contract for the young striker yet but the player’s agent has been doing his best to get Martial a new club.

“Martial’s agent has been marketing him around Europe, and trying to get a club. I’m told he hasn’t got a definite contract offer yet.

“From what I understand, Martial is telling friends that he expects to be elsewhere when the summer window is complete.”

Martial, who currently earns £65,000-a-week, joined United in 2015 from Monaco but he has not been able to nail down a starting place in the United team under Jose Mourinho.

The Frenchman has played 29 times in the Premier League this season but has only started 17 of those games. His tally of 9 goals and 5 assists isn’t bad considering the chopping and changing done by Jose but Castles also believes that Mourinho is willing to sell the youngster.

“And I’m told Jose Mourinho would be open to selling him if he asks for a transfer.

“It’s not the case that Martial has been put on the market, but they are ready to let him leave if he decides he wants to go away.”

Castles also added that getting a decent transfer fee for the player would not be a problem, given his age and ability, but his contract is the sticky point.

Martial certainly is a player with immense potential and it is a little frustrating to not see him start consistently. However, this is the level of competition at United.

Losing him would be a big blow given his age and ability. Hopefully, we will be able to see the best of him for a number of years in a United shirt.
