In an emotionally charged Old Trafford, it was Manchester United who scored a late winner to defeat Arsenal 2-1, thanks to a Marouane Fellaini header.
This was going to be Arsene Wenger’s last match at Old Trafford as the manager of the Gunners and the Frenchman was commemorated by both Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson before the match.
Arsene named a much-changed squad due to their Europa League travels but it did feature one old boy in Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
We too had a former Gunner in Alexis Sanchez but it was Paul Pogba who opened the scoring for us in the 16th minute. Arsenal, surprisingly, didn’t buckle after conceding and even dominated parts of the game and had a few chances before the end of the first half.
It was Mkhitaryan who got the equaliser for the Gunners and it looked like the match would end as a draw given that Marcus Rashford’s effort was ruled offside.
Fellaini then stepped up with a header in added time where he met an Ashley Young cross and we ended the match with the three points while Arsene will hope for a better outcome at Madrid during midweek.
In what was a tightly contested game, here’s how the fans reacted on Twitter.

Some United fans expected a thrashing today but #mufc just not as ruthless as they were in opening months of the season. A turgid and tepid performance.
