Manchester United are set to offer Arturo Vidal a four-year contract and snatch him away from his current club Bayern Munich, according to reports from Chile (h/t Metro).

The former Juventus star will also be offered a contract worth £240,000-a-week as the Red Devils look to sign the midfielder from the Bundesliga champions.

Vidal, who turns 31 in the summer, will only have one more year on his current Bayern deal by then but Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to sign a quality player in the summer window to replace Michael Carrick who is set to retire at the end of the season.

The report by La Cuarta (h/t Metro) claims that the Chilean star is a major target for Jose Mourinho in the summer. The player’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, who also is the agent of fellow United star Alexis Sanchez, is in England to hold talks with the Manchester club.

United are willing to bid £42m for the services of the midfielder and Bayern are yet to decide the Chilean’s future at the end of the season.

Vidal has played 34 games for the Bavarian giants this season and has contributed 6 goals and 2 assists. The Chilean has also won two Bundesliga titles and a DFB Pokal during his time at the club.

United’s offer of a 4-year contract will also feature incentives for goals scored and trophies won at the club, according to the report.

The report also went on to suggest that Vidal could have been a Chelsea player as Antonio Conte had contacted the former Juventus star. The Italian manager had also called Vidal a ‘world-class player’ during the January transfer window but no deal materialised.

Do you think signing Vidal would be a smart move by our club?
