World-class Manchester United target claims he will decide on his future before the World Cup

According to renowned French magazine L’Equipe, Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann will make a decision on his future before flying with the France national team to the World Cup in Russia.

As per the BBC, Griezmann was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer but the Frenchman decided to stay in Spain after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld Atletico’s transfer ban. The ban led Griezmann to sign a one-year extension with Atletico but as per the Manchester Evening News, the forward is set to leave the club in the summer.

Earlier this season, as reported by Sky Sports, Barcelona denied that they had agreed to a pre-contract agreement with Griezmann but the Atletico forward is widely expected to make a move to the Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.

As per the Manchester Evening News, United boss Jose Mourinho last month insisted that he doesn’t want to sign any more attacking players ahead of next season and now, Griezmann has confirmed he will make a decision on his future before the World Cup.

“I want to travel to Russia without this concern,” Griezmann told L’Equipe. “It’s not about knowing where I’ll play, but about having the peace of mind if I’m still in one place or another.

“It may be boring, but I have told my sister that, whether I stay or not, this will have to be resolved beforehand [prior to the World Cup starting]. What bothers me the most is that everyone asks me about this issue.”

United spent a substantial amount of money last summer to bring Romelu Lukaku from Everton. The bulky striker has done well so far this season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions and remains hungry for more. The big Belgian’s late form has eased the need for another striker but I expect Mourinho to strengthen our midfield in the summer.
