Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku takes sly dig at Manchester United.

In the match of the Premier League weekend, it was Manchester United who came out on top, thanks to a brilliant performance from Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has often been singled out for not performing in the big games but the former Chelsea man proved to be pivotal as we moved ahead of Liverpool into 2nd place.

The pre-match talk was around how Jose Mourinho and Conte would get along on the pitch and even though they behaved well, it was Chelsea who got the breakthrough through a brilliant counter-attack. Eden Hazard played Willian through and David de Gea could not stop his shot at the near-post.

It looked like we would be heading into the half-time break being a goal down but that changed as Romelu Lukaku linked up well to slot past Thibaut Courtois into the net.

The second half was an all Manchester United show with Chelsea having to play on the break. Even though Morata did hit the post, we got the second as Lukaku crossed brilliantly for Jesse Lingard to score.

There was a scary moment when Morata did score but the referee chalked it off for offside, though the Spaniard was probably on-side. Lukaku ended up scoring his first goal against a top six side this season and here are a few more big numbers from the game.

1 – Chelsea have won just one of their past four Premier League games and are out of the top four

12 – Willian has matched his record for his best scoring season for Chelsea with 12 goals. He had scored the same amount in 2016-17

13 – Lingard has scored 13 goals for United, only Lukaku has scored more (22) in all competitions for the Red Devils

22 – Chelsea lost for the first time in 22 Premier League, since scoring the first goal of the game. They had won their last 22 games consecutively when scoring first

35 – United have lost just one of their past 35 home games against the defending champions, winning 20 and drawing 14
