PSG are interested in signing Marcos Rojo from us in order to bolster their defence, according to The Sun. The French giants are reportedly ready to fork out €35million to lure Rojo who has struggled to establish himself in our first team plans this season.

Rojo has made only ten first-team appearances in all competitions this season as he underwent a knee surgery last April.

Mourinho, however, is hoping that the Argentine international agrees to sign a new contract with us. The £70,000-a-week Rojo could be re-integrated into the first-team as soon as he recovers from injury as Mou is said to be unhappy with the performances of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling during recent weeks.

The self-proclaimed “special one” is said to be unhappy with the board for failing to take action and get Rojo to sign a new deal as he sees the player as being a key part of our first-team plans going forward. Should Rojo fail to agree to sign a new contract by the end of 2018, he will be able to negotiate with clubs outside England next January.

According to reports, PSG are preparing a €35million move for Rojo and he could be tempted to move if his first-team opportunities do not get better going forward. The French giants may need to look for a new left-back during the summer after Layvin Kurzawa changed his agent in preparation for a possible summer exit.

They also need a backup for Thiago Silva and Marquinhos, as Presnel Kimpembe is versatile and good enough to play anywhere else. It is however unlikely that the Parisians will make a decision on Rojo until the future of manager Unai Emery is settled.

Prior to his injury, Ander Herrera highlighted that Rojo is one of the best defenders in the world, saying:

“Last season, when he got injured, I told him that he was in the top five central defenders in the world because his play was outstanding and he was in amazing form. I felt so sorry for him because he got injured in what was the best moment of his career.”

It is important that we hold on to Marcos Rojo and not sell him in the summer. He’s a quality defender and it would cost big if we are to replace him, as the market is highly inflated these days.
