Manchester United’s £80,000-a-week star signs pre-contract agreement with Turkish club – reports

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has signed a pre-contract agreement with Turkish side Besiktas and will leave the Old Trafford on a free transfer over the summer, quotes a report from Fotomac.

The Belgium international has already entered the final six months of his £80,000-a-week contract and although Jose Mourinho has stated that he wants him to stay, there are high chances that he might leave at the end of the season. So with less than 6 months on his contract, he is eligible to speak to foreign clubs. Manchester United, on their part, had already offered him a new contract, but the midfielder rejected it and said,

“If Manchester United did not want me anymore, they would have said that a long time ago,” Fellaini told HUMO.

“They made me an offer, and probably another one will follow. Whether I will accept it, I don’t know. You can’t arrange something like that in an instant.

“We [Fellaini and Mourinho] talked about it. The coach is someone who respects the decisions of his players.”

As per the report on Fotomac, the 30-year-old wants new challenges despite the fact that Jose Mourinho thinks highly of him. So as far as his transfer is concerned, the likes of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce were thought to be the interested clubs as well but the Belgian has decided to join their title rivals Besiktas instead.

Fellaini’s current season has been hampered by a series of injuries. It all started with him picking a knock on his knee while on international duty back in October 2017 and hasn’t been able to stabilise his issues since.

Eventually, during the early part of February, the midfielder underwent a surgery on his knee – just a couple of days after being subbed off seven minutes after coming on at Wembley against Tottenham. It is now known that Fellaini will be out of action for at least two months.

The report does give me a bit of shock as I personally feel that Fellaini is an excellent utility player in our ranks. Let’s see how true this report turns out to be.
