Robbie Savage urges Manchester United to ‘break the bank’ and sign in-form 18 goal striker

Manchester United should go all out to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s mercurial striker Harry Kane, says pundit Robbie Savage.

The England international scored a hat-trick in Tottenham’s resounding 5-2 win over Southampton at Wembley on Boxing Day.

Kane, 24, has now scored a treble in successive games following his heroics against both Burnley and Southampton.

He beat Alan Shearer’s record of 36 Premier League goals in a calendar year at Wembley last week and also finished 2017 as Europe’s leading goal-scorer, ahead of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

The Tottenham striker has been sensational for his club this season, scoring 24 goals in as many outings thus far, and has firmly established himself as one of the world’s most feared front-men.

The striker’s fantastic displays have not gone unnoticed, with some of Europe’s most elite clubs thought to be interested in acquiring his signature.

Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of their key man but manager Mauricio Pochettino must ensure his side wins silverware.

However, former United trainee Robbie Savage has urged Jose Mourinho to do whatever it takes to bring Kane to Old Trafford.

“If I was Manchester United, I would chuck everything at Harry Kane,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live, as reported by The Sport Review.

“I would break the bank.”

Recently, Pochettino asserted that Kane is priceless and I think he’s right.

“I think it’s not good to compare. I think Harry doesn’t have a price. We want him here. I think we can talk about many things, but at the end it’s talk for talk, because it’s impossible to put a price. He’s out of the market,” Pochettino was quoted by Football.London.

“It’s easy for me. I say knock on Daniel Levy’s door. Go to see Daniel, not me. Easy for me, maybe for Daniel more difficult.”

With the January transfer window now open, rumours regarding Kane’s future will surely continue to swirl, and the only way for Spurs to put an end to talk of the 24-year-old’s potential exit will be to tie him down to a new and improved contract.

Kane is undisputedly Tottenham’s best player, in the best form of his life, banging goals left, right and centre. If Mourinho really wants the talismanic forward, he will really need chief executive Ed Woodward to offer a sky-high amount to the North Londoners.

In my opinion, the move is not happening in summer, let alone in January!
