Manchester United News: Jose Mourinho Has Already Made An Enquiry To Sign His First January Target

There have been rumblings of discontent around Chelsea this season despite their stunning campaign last term. Antonio Conte’s position has been called into question while a number of their stars have also been linked with moves away. One such player linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge is Willian, who has been in and out of Conte’s starting line-up.

The Brazilian spoke about his future following Chelsea’s midweek win over Huddersfield Town and said the club’s fans can be calm as he is happy at Chelsea. However, it is understood Willian has been frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities and apparently wants to leave the Blues.

With the player’s current state, the Daily Mail claims Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the Brazilian to Old Trafford next month. United have been linked with Willian ever since Mourinho took charge of United 18 months ago. The Brazil international also revealed that Mourinho was interested in signing him for Manchester United last summer.

The duo won a Premier League title and a League Cup during its time together at Stamford Bridge and Mourinho is desperate to reunite with his former player.

The winger is said to be open to making the move up north after failing to hold down a place under Conte. However, the Chelsea manager has no intention of selling such an important player mid-way through the season unless they receive an extraordinary offer.

The Nemanja Matic escapade this summer was certainly enough to open Conte’s eyes; however, the Italian earlier claimed he was sad to see the Serb leave for Old Trafford. Conte, instead, is keen to keep most of his squad intact and is looking to add further reinforcements than offload as the fixtures pile up and his squad is stretched.

In November when asked about Willian’s current position at Chelsea, Conte said:

“The player must be happy to stay at Chelsea and play for the fans. If they start or are on the bench. I have players who understand this situation, like [Eden] Hazard, accepted the situation to be on the bench. Same for Willy or for Pedro to accept this. You must be happy to stay with a great team.”

So it’s clear Chelsea won’t sell Willian in January unless we pay a good sum of money.

What’s your opinion? Would Willian be a good signing for us?
