Manchester United could make a sensational move for one of the top Tottenham players next summer, to lay a mark in the transfer window. According to reports in The Sun, United could make an audacious bid for Spurs midfielder Dele Alli.

The report states the desire of the club to go with an open chequebook and make a stunning £180million offer for England international midfielder Dele.

Wow! Isn’t that whopping? With due regards to his exceptional skills, ability, and potential, I think £180million is too huge an amount for any player. Agreed that the transfer of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain this year has opened the floodgates in the transfer window but seriously, where are the rates heading?

Back to Dele, the 21-year-old is poised to become a point of the transfer tussle between the Red Devils and Real Madrid as the La Liga giants are poised to follow up on their long-term interest by trying to make him their next ‘Galactico’.

Since his move from MK Dons in 2015, Alli has seen his stock rise at Tottenham by leaps and bounds. In fact, he has grown into his role in the national team too with such rapid pace. His rise from playing in the League One to be a key player for the Three Lions has been phenomenal.

Madrid surely believe that he has the potential to be their next superstar – both on and off the field – and that makes this chase interesting. What I believe would be the differentiator is Dele’s next agent. There are reports that the midfielder is looking to choose between Mino Raiola and Jorge Mendes as his next agent.

Also, United will hope that staying in England will appeal to Alli at this stage of his career. But, will Tottenham sell Dele? That too to a domestic rival?

Not without a fight, because the midfielder is a vital cog in Mauricio Pochettino’s side. But, if they continue to fail to win silverware, then it won’t be long before the Tottenham players form a queue to leave the club.

What’s your opinion?
