‘Lukaku needs to be benched’, ‘Mourinho needs to fix stuffs’ Man United Fans Split Over 1-0 Win

A win is a win, no matter how or by how many, and this is how Manchester United fans have been living in recent times. In what was thought would be an easy victory, Manchester United emerged victorious by the closest of margins against the Chris Hughton led Brighton & Hove Albion. A deflected goal from left-back Ashley Young – who has been in a fiery form this season – made the sole difference in the evening.

However, it was an utter underwhelming performance from the same side which ripped Newcastle United’s defence apart the previous weekend, and that too after going a goal down. Or Maybe, all the criticism is perfectly fair. Agreed, Brighton went all defensive, but that is what tests a manager’s patience. United lacked that creative spark, to say the least, and the fact that we could only manage 4 shots on target out of an attempted 15 is the perfect specimen of it.

Again, we enjoyed the majority of possession and Pogba, who attempted more passes versus Brighton (110) than in any other Premier League match in his career, was the anchor point, but that finishing touch was always lacking. The scoreline could have stated differently, but that ‘could have’ always ruins the mood for every fan. Prior to the game, Brighton had never won away against Manchester United in any competition and the Devils ensured they kept their record clean, even though the lone goal came off a deflected attempt.

Furthermore, a clean sheet on the evening means United have recorded a clean sheet in 26 of their 51 Premier League matches since the start of last season – more than any other side. With that being done, United fans were left impressed by Young’s amazing display while at the same time, were unhappy with the way some other players performed.
