Manchester United kept up the pace in the title chase after watching Manchester City and Chelsea pick up wins in their respective games. There was some good news for United fans as Paul Pogba made a return to the starting XI and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was on the bench, after lengthy spells out due to injury.
It was Pogba who was the star of the show but things did not go well for us as Dwight Gayle scored early on to give Newcastle United the lead. Things were back on track later on as Paul Pogba first set up Anthony Martial for the equaliser in the 37th minute before Chris Smalling gave us a deserved lead before the half-time break.
The second half started just as well with Pogba scoring the goal after a great flick by Marcus Rashford. The points were then sealed, later on, thanks to a Romelu Lukaku goal.
The match might have ended 4-1 but it could have been much more and the best news has to be about the players returning, with Zlatan even getting a cameo.
While City might be running away with the title, we are doing our best. The fans were happy with today’s result and here’s how they reacted on Twitter.
Fact: United have now won their first nine home games of the season – a post-war club record.

Think it’s phenomenal how Pogba can be out for 13 games but come back without any rust and run the game for Manchester United. A goal and an assist for him. Back to winning ways.

April 20th Zlatan goes off with a cruciate knee tear.
November 18th he’s coming on as sub for 15 mins of a league game.
That speaks more than any of his quotes and is a wonderful example to the young players around him.#MUFC
