Player’s Agent Updates The Latest On Manchester United’s Supposed Done Deal

Benfica’s 16-year-old striker Umaro Embalo’s agent has confirmed that there had been a meeting with Manchester United but has denied claims that there had been an agreement between the two clubs over a potential transfer.

Portuguese new outlet Record had earlier reported that Manchester United have struck a deal with Benfica to bring the Guinea-Bissau-born 16-year-old to England. Furthermore, Javier Ribalta, who left Juventus to join Manchester United as the chief scout over the summer, reportedly watched Embalo during a 2-2 UEFA Youth League draw between Benfica and Manchester United and was left utterly impressed.

Following that, reports erupted that a deal for Umaro Embalo had been agreed between Manchester United and the Portuguese giants and although his agent has confirmed that the clubs met each other, he has rubbished the claims that an agreement has been reached.

“Nothing is done, and the conversation, nobody communicated anything to me, nor to the parents. He has interest from several clubs, because he is an asset of Benfica and has gone down this route well,” Embalo’s agent told A Bola, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“If he’s going to Manchester is something that I don’t know at all, but it’s true that we have already met with Benfica and Manchester, there is no agreement, but there are conversations.”

His agent further stressed the fact that Manchester United aren’t the only club looking for Embalo’s signature.

“I can say that all the great clubs in Europe have already asked for information about Umaro, from Germany, England, Spain, France.

As described by many media outlets, Embalo is a gifted and versatile attacker and is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking line; be it as a striker, on the left wing or on the right wing. Furthermore, ESPN quotes that Embalo isn’t the only Benfica player that has attracted United’s interest. A certain 17-year-old forward Joao Felix and an 18-year-old midfielder Joao Filipe who has already spent time on trial at Carrington are on the radar but nothing has come to fruition.

Let’s hope we end up signing these talented young starlets to strengthen our academy.
