Manchester United’s early success this season has been attributed to our transfer business, and the way we conducted it sooner than any of our rivals. The Red Devils added Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof, and Nemanja Matic very early, giving them enough time to settle into the side.
It is probably the same we should do next summer too and there’s no doubt about it. Just like us, a number of Premier League clubs dived into the transfer market to land some brilliant players. While some of the new signings have failed miserably, a lot of players have taken the league by storm as well.
When Richarlison was signed by Watford £11.5m, a lot of eyebrows were raised, as the 20-year old was an unknown quantity. The U-20 Brazil international was identified by Marco Silva and he signed for the Hornets in August.
The Brazilian was courted for a long time by Dutch giants Ajax who thought they had a deal for the player in place only to be beaten by Watford. Despite not having played for the senior national team, Richarlison was able to get a work permit. If reports
are to be believed, he is on the verge of getting a national call-up.Overseas players generally take time to settle down in the Premier League, but the youngster has taken to life in England very soon. He has already scored 4 goals and has assisted 3 more.
What has brought him closer to the Watford faithful is his endless energy and ability to score late goals. His last-minute goals have already won four extra points for Watford, who are flying in the Premier League this season. Such has been his form that club captain Troy Deeney has been kept out of the starting 11.
The youngster is the cornerstone of Marco Silva’s side and is in no hurry to make another move soon. However, there were reports
earlier in the summer that United scouts were watching him in action and were mulling over a bid, before Watford swooped for the starlet.Should United go for the youngster once again? January looks too close to comfort but if he continues to impress, next summer could be the time for United to go for Richarlison’s signature.
