Manchester United Lead The Race To Sign 37 Goal French Attacker While Several Other Clubs Continue To Monitor Him

Moussa Dembele

Manchester United are tracking highly-rated Celtic youngster Moussa Dembele and are favorites to sign the youngster. According to The Mirror, United manager Jose Mourinho is leading the race for his signature.

The 21-year-old is a long-term target for the Red Devils, with the club having tracked him during his time at Fulham. However, Dembele chose to go to Celtic in the summer of 2016.

Since then, he has netted an impressive 37 goals in 60 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side and has won the league title, Scottish League Cup, and the Scottish Cup. In 11 appearances this season, he has scored 5 goals and has provided 2 assists for the Scottish champions.

Critics may point out that the level of football in Scotland is not up to that in the Premier League but there is no hiding the fact that Dembele is a class player. He is definitely better than staying in Scotland and there is no shortage of suitors across Europe.

The report suggests that Mourinho is the frontrunner to land the Frenchman, who played the full 90 minutes against FC Bayern Munich where Celtic lost 2-1.

Is Mourinho Really Looking To Invest In A Striker?

In the two seasons in charge at the club so far, the Portuguese has landed Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku as his striker options.

To add to that, he also has Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial – two of the best young forwards in world football right now. There is a cloud of doubt over his relation with Martial but the way he has responded this year, it looks like it won’t be long before the Frenchman becomes a regular starter.

Ibrahimovic will come back from his injury sometime this month and in all possibility, he could move on at the end of the season. The Swedish superstar may hang on for a little longer but eventually, he must be replaced by a younger forward.

Will that be Dembele? It makes sense to invest in the youngster as he looks a great talent. He also has experience playing in England albeit with Fulham in the Championship.

Should United go all out in the pursuit of Moussa Dembele? What do you think?
