Manchester United Enter The Party To Spoil Arsenal’s Transfer Plans – £92m Bid Plotted For Gunners Target

Thomas Lemar

AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar was a constant name involved in the transfer rumours during the summer window. The young winger was on the cusp of joining Premier League side Arsenal but the move did not happen on the deadline day. It is now being reported by The Sun that Manchester United will sign the player in January for £92million.

A really curious and interesting turn of events! Lemar was a prime target for Arsene Wenger to salvage some reputation in what was a disastrous transfer window for the Gunners. But after the deal did not go through on the deadline day, it was assumed that Arsenal left it too late.

However, it is now being reported that the player was not interested in a move and pulled the plug on the transfer. Lemar wanted a move to Liverpool but the Reds were put off by the asking price, leaving Arsenal as the only interested party.

Lemar now wants to move to United rather than Arsenal as it gives him a better platform to improve and develop as a player. Wenger is sure to go back in January for his signature as he looks for a replacement for Alexis Sanchez. Even if the Chilean striker does a U-turn to stay back at the club, signing Lemar would be Wenger’s top priority.

With these latest report though, it looks like United will be ready to intercept Arsenal’s plans in January. Lemar wanted to continue at Monaco as he was happy to keep playing in the Champions League.

With Liverpool not keen on splashing the cash on Lemar and Arsenal all but ruled out by the player, United may have an edge in the winter window. If the Red Devils continue to be in the hunt for Premier League title in January then Lemar could jump at the chance to move to Old Trafford.

Should United go for his signature? No matter how good he is, Lemar’s arrival at Old Trafford will push him into direct contest with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. It won’t be easy for Lemar to push his way into the first team and I don’t see him being an upgrade on the existing names at our club.
