Deal Complete: Manchester United Sign Spanish Wonder Kid Tipped For Bigger Things

Arnau Puigmal

Manchester United have officially signed the Spanish wonder kid Arnau Puigmal this summer and the teenager shared his joy over the move on Instagram. According to reports in The Sun, the 16-year-old midfielder joined from Espanyol and posted an image on his social media account where he was sitting alongside former club striker Andrew Cole.

Puigmal couldn’t hide his excitement at signing for United and has insisted that he is “proud to announce that I’m a new Manchester United player” describing the move as a dream come true.

The Spanish youth international signed the United contract much earlier in the summer but was forced to wait for international clearance before announcing the news.

How good is Puigmal? It is reported that United’s Academy recruitment spotted the youngster at the Mediterranean International Cup. Nicky Butt who oversees United’s Academy recruitment was reported to have been impressed by the teenager. For someone of his age, it is claimed that he possesses a game that can quickly catapult him into the top league.

Puigmal was crowned the most valuable player at the tournament and it was only a matter of time before he secured a move to Manchester. The likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar also starred in the same tournament before embarking on successful careers.

However, it is too early to judge the talent and conclude if he can be a success at Old Trafford. But, with his signing, it has become evident that the club has placed importance on signing talented youngsters.

Over the past couple of years, we have seen how Manchester City has overtaken the Red Devils in terms of recruiting talented youngsters for the Academy. Ever since Butt was placed in charge of the youngsters, we have seen a notable increase in capture of talented players.

Puigmal will definitely boost our Academy strength and the fans will hope to see him flourish at that level before stepping into the senior side – something which the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have shown in the past few years.

Here’s wishing Arnau Puigmal a very successful career at Manchester United!
