Manchester United Complete One Loan Deal For Midfielder, Another On The Cards: Deadline Day Exodus

Scott McTominay

Manchester United’s young midfielder Scott McTominay is expected to leave the club on loan to join Wolves, reports Manchester Evening News. While, on the other hand, Matty Willock has completed his loan move to the Eredivisie side, Utrecht.

It is expected that Willock will initially join Utrecht’s youth team and will be promoted to the senior squad eventually. Wolves, on the other hand, want the 21-year-old McTominay on a season long loan but he will be given his fair share of first-team chances.

McTominay made his Manchester United debut against Arsenal back in May in a 2-0 defeat. He came on as a substitute. His first start came in United’s final game of the previous season against Crystal Palace. Willock, on the other hand, was expected to come on against Palace, but unfortunately, it wasn’t his day.

Furthermore, McTominay was also a regular fixture in United’s pre-season tour and was given the nod in United’s win over Real Salt Lake. He also scored in a 3-0 win at Valerenga in July. Jose Mourinho, on his part, has time and again spoken high of the youngster and tipped him as one for the future. He said in July,

“In a few years Man United will also have half a dozen of these kids [in the team]. I think Scott (McTominay) and Demetri (Mitchell) are also kids to have a future in the club and Andreas Pereira is back.

“So when the kids are good and have potential, there is no problem.”

Matty Willock has a younger brother Chris who recently moved to Benfica. He (Matty) has played alongside the likes of Axel Tuanzebe, Marcus Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah in UEFA Youth Leagues and has been a regular face for the Red’s Reserves team in the last two years.

Besides Wayne Rooney, no senior player has been sold so far. The list of departure includes Guillermo Varela, who has joined his hometown club Peñarol. Furthermore, Adnan Januzaj has sealed a permanent move to La Liga side Real Sociedad for a reported £9.8m.

The loan list includes the likes of Timothy Fosu-Mensah to Crystal Palace, Sam Johnstone to Aston Villa, Cameroon Borthwick-Jackson to Leeds and Dean Henderson to League One side Shrewsbury Town.

We would like to wish Scott McTominay all the best for the season ahead!
