Match Report: Manchester United 2-0 Leicester City
Building on to their league domination, Manchester United brushed off an all-confident Leicester City side 2-0, with both goals coming from two substitutes.
United, as expected, started off brightly, testing Leicester’s resolve early in the game, but the Foxes’ defensive unit was too compact to get better of. In as early as the 18th minute, Juan Mata converted from a close range after Schmeichel parried Lukaku’s shot, but the Spaniard was ruled offside.
United were all over the field in the first-half but were lacking that clinical edge. Just a couple of minutes later, Schmeichel was at his best again after the Danish denied Juan Mata’s breathtaking curler. Heading into the second half of the game, the deadlock was yet to be broken.
Marcus Rashford was brought on to replace Juan Mata soon after the hour’s mark and this is when Leicester started to struggle. Their defence started to crack as Rashford’s pace was too hot to handle. The young Three-Lion broke the deadlock just three minutes after his introduction as he volleyed the ball into the back of the net from Mkhitaryan’s corner.
Twelve minutes later, Marouane Fellaini gave his side a comfort, after converting the ball from Jese Lingard’s attempt. United, undoubtedly, were the better side but saw some ruptures against a defensive Leicester unit. Furthermore, to everyone’s surprise, Romelu Lukaku disappointed a lot. The Belgian, besides missing a penalty, was bullied by Harry Maguire for the entirety of the game.
While, on the other hand, the likes of Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan had an average outing. Having said that, here is how the United fan base responded to the victory:

Mourinho should get @Mahrez22 for us. He’s a good player. £40-45mil shouldn’t be a problem.#MUFC #MUNLEI
