Manchester United Given Huge Boost In The Chase To Sign Winger Valued At £60m- Arsenal Are Also Keen

Thomas Lemar

Manchester United received a huge boost in the pursuit of AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar as the French club is now prepared to sell the player. The principality club had previously ruled out selling Lemar saying that there will be “no more departures” from Monaco this summer.

However, latest reports from The Sun indicate that the current Ligue1 champions are prepared to sell three more players and this list includes Lemar.

Monaco have already seen high-profile departures to the English Premier League as Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy have joined Manchester City together with Tiemoue Bakayoko who joined Chelsea.

They are under pressure for other stars in their side as Paris Saint-Germain are circling for teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe and Fabinho. With interest in the players not subsiding, Monaco have decided to cash in on the players and sell them this summer.

Monaco are reportedly negotiating the sale of Mbappe to PSG with Lucas Moura moving in the opposite direction. Apart from this sale is PSG’s pursuit of utility player Fabinho. Albeit reluctantly, Monaco have conceded defeat in their efforts of keeping their last set of star players.

Jose Mourinho has been in the market for a winger and his first choice has been Ivan Perisic of Inter Milan. The Croatian winger was personally interested too but the San Siro club resisted all the moves by the Red Devils.

As the transfer window moves to the deadline day, the chances of signing Perisic look remote. Though Mourinho keeps saying that he is happy to have signed three of his four targets, he wouldn’t be averse to adding a quality name in Lemar.

The French international has attracted interest from Arsenal as well with Arsene Wenger looking to add him this summer. The problem for Wenger though is the fact that he needs to sell before he signs Lemar as the squad is “not manageable”.

There were reports that Monaco value him at £60million which Wenger was not willing to play. All this means that Lemar could potentially make his move to Old Trafford.

Do you think Thomas Lemar is a good addition for Manchester United this summer?
