Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to do more business this summer and is looking to add as many as three players to his squad, according to The Express. Manchester United are second only to neighbours Manchester City for spending in the transfer window so far with Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof brought in for around £146m.

The Portuguese tactician had a fixed plan before the transfer window opened and had eyed four signings. One defender, one defensive midfielder, one winger and one forward were on top of Mourinho’s wish list.

We have already signed Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku this summer leaving only ‘the winger’ requirement from Mourinho’s original list unfulfilled.

Even that could change as our long-standing pursuit of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic crawls to a successful end. The gaffer now wants to dig deep into the transfer market to sign three more players and mount a challenge for the Premier League title.

Who Are The Targets?

There are reports that PSG right-back Serge Aurier has agreed on terms, pending his Visa approval. Perisic’s addition is proving to be frustratingly long. Inter Milan’s reluctance to accept anything less than £48million for their wide man is proving tough to break although sources close to Old Trafford exude confidence that the deal will eventually happen.

We Need More ‘Star’ Players

The first team looks settled with the arrival of Matic. The impending signing of Perisic will add competition to Jesse Lingard and the presence of Anthony Martial gives variety to the front line. However, Mourinho feels that his side still lacks that true elevation in terms of attacking quality and would need a good signing to boost their chances.

That explains his clamor to sign another forward. In fact, early in the summer, during our pursuit for Alvaro Morata, there were reports that Mourinho wanted both Morata and Lukaku in the team.

Now that his original wish list is close to fulfillment, Mourinho may step up his chase for another forward. We were closely tracking Torino forward Andrea Belotti although the club’s astronomical valuations put us off.

Mourinho also wants to target another full-back considering his frosty relationship with Luke Shaw last season. Although sources close to the club say that the manager is impressed with Shaw’s response and has much more faith now, there is no reason why the club can’t add competition to the left-hand side.

What do you think? Will we be able to sign more players? Who should be our targets?
