Deal Close – Manchester United On The Verge Of Completing 4th Summer Signing For €25million

Manchester United completed the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea and so there could be only one more deal that may happen. Most reports point that Ivan Perisic could be the final signing of the summer transfer window for Jose Mourinho considering the enormous interest and negotiations that happened for the Inter Milan winger.

However, Transfermarketweb points out that our next signing could be a right-back from Ligue1 side Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds are giving final touches to their pre-season preparations as they get set to take on Real Madrid in the Super Cup final next week.

There is a very high probability that we could add a fourth signing, Serge Aurier, in time for that match.

Also, Independent’s Miguel Delaney confirmed that a €25million deal for the right-back should happen if the pending visa issues are solved.

The 24-year-old Ivorian defender was rejected UK Visa earlier this season when PSG visited Arsenal in the Champions League. He was charged with assaulting a police officer in Paris in 2016 and was handed a two-month suspended sentence. It is yet unclear if he would be able to attain UK visa at this stage – which is the only pending issue in the transfer.

Once touted as one of the best prospects in France, Aurier made 56 Ligue1 appearances for PSG since joining from Toulouse in 2014. But the initial euphoria subsided and his performances declined, with him eventually dropping him down the pecking order. With Dani Alves joining the side on a free-transfer from Juventus, Aurier will get fewer chances this season.

Will He Slot Into The First Team?

The right-back position at United is occupied by Antonia Valencia who has arguably been one of the best over the past couple of seasons. In the event of injury or rotation, Mourinho has Matteo Darmian and Timothy Fosu-Mensah as his options.

Further down, there are options in the form of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones who can fill-in if required. That could mean Aurier having a tough route to the first-team. But, he needs to revive his career and doing it under Mourinho is not a bad option.

What do you think of Aurier? Will he be able to revive his career at Old Trafford?
