‘Gave me the best moments in my life’ – The Best Of Twitter Reactions As Legend Rooney Moves To Everton

Wayne Rooney

Manchester United have confirmed the departure of captain Wayne Rooney, as the 31-year old striker completes a move back to his boyhood club Everton. (BBC)

The England international had found himself on the fringes of first-team football over the last year under Jose Mourinho and had been heavily linked with a move away from the Old Trafford. And now the player and both the clubs have confirmed the transfer.

Rooney draws curtains on a glittering 13-year spell with us, having joined the club back in 2004 as an 18-year old. He leaves the club as the highest goal-scorer ever with 253 goals to his name and has won every trophy that is for the taking at the club level. In total he has laid hands on 16 trophies with us – including five Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League trophy, one UEFA Europa League trophy and a FIFA Club World Cup as well.

Although, he may have been in a decline over the past year or so, Rooney is a United legend in every right and various former players and the supporters took to Twitter to thank the legend for his services at United.

And here are some of the best reactions from the social media:
