Personal Terms Agreed With Chelsea Midfielder – Manchester United Close In On Second Summer Signing

Nemanja Matic

Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic could become the next player to join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United ahead of the next season. According to Manchester Evening News, the 28-year-old midfielder has agreed to personal terms with us and wants to link up with his former boss.

The report further adds that no deal has been decided between the two Premier League sides but Antonio Conte is willing to let go of Matic as the Blues look to complete a deal for Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko (Standard).

Matic certainly is a good enough player to start for most Premier League sides but for some reason the Italian manager at Chelsea doesn’t rate him highly enough and is willing to let him go.

Juventus, the Italian champions, are also interested in the combative midfielder and are in the market for a quality player.

It isn’t a surprise that Mou is looking to add talent to his side and with Champions League football for looming around Old Trafford, we need to bring in players that are guaranteed to succeed next season.

Matic certainly enjoyed some of his best football under Mourinho and a deal to bring him to United would be a win-win situation or all parties, well maybe not for Chelsea. The Blues would not want to let go one of their better players and also strengthen a competitor for the title next season.

We do have a pretty decent side at the moment but there are a few regions that need quality additions, the centre of midfield being one. The need for a player that can battle against the opposition is something that is missing at United and Mou knows he has to bring the steel back into the side.

A midfield pairing of Matic alongside Paul Pogba could help dominate sides. And with a number of extra games from the Champions League also coming up, Matic would be a perfect player due to his experience in both competitions.

Matic is still in his prime and Chelsea would ask for a premium but if we can seal the deal for the 28-year-old, it could be the start of match domination from the midfield.
