Forget Griezmann – Manchester United Switch Focus To Sign Arsenal Target Who Could Cost £50 Million

Manchester United are starting to look at alternatives after cooling their interest in Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman was regarded as the number one transfer target for the club, but he appears to be staying at the Spanish outfit for the time being. As a result, United have shifted their attention towards Arsenal and Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports from Daily Mirror. The 26-year-old has been one of the keenly watched players in the last couple of years. His exploits with Lyon have seen him continuously linked with a move to the Premier League.

However, United have reportedly stolen the march for the player. Even though the French international will cost around £50million, it is believed that Manchester United are ready to pay this figure in order to tide over the striker crisis. As both Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are not capable of leading the attack single-handedly, Jose Mourinho is deeply concerned about the lack of striking options at the club. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are showing great promise but carrying the weight of Manchester United at such a young age can work both ways and Jose wouldn’t want to risk doing that.

Lacazette is a proven performer in the French league over the last couple of years. After coming through the ranks at Lyon, he has gone on to make more than 200 appearances for the French outfit since his debut in the 2009-10 season. He has been scoring more than 20 goals in each of the last four seasons in French football. Even last season, he finished with 37 goals in 45 appearances – in what has turned out to be his best season till date. This has tremendously increased his transfer value, and interested parties like United and Arsenal will have to come with £50million in order to sign him, according to latest reports.

United are looking to make a move for Lacazette, with Arsenal and Liverpool rivaling us. Both the clubs are not capable of competing with us financially and hence their competition can be ignored. An advantage of moving for Lacazette is that the player’s experience when it comes to handling physicality, which is common in French football just like in England.

Do you think Lacazette will be a good signing by Manchester United?
