Gareth Bale is reportedly in talks with Manchester United over a potential return to English football. The Welshman along with his Real Madrid teammates came to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and secured the Champions League trophy for a second consecutive season. His lack of impact in the Madrid team has not been a problem for manager Zinedine Zidane, who has been able to achieve a lot of success in his first full season as the manager.

Zidane has utilised players like Isco as a replacement for Bale, and the 24-year-old Spaniard has been sensational in the last few weeks. Along with Cristiano Ronaldo, Isco has been one of the best players at the club. As a result, Bale is now facing a huge fight just to feature in the first team next season. Zidane is unlikely to alter a winning combination and Bale might have to settle for a place on the bench.

Bale has found it difficult to keep up with the expectations placed upon him as one of the most expensive players in the world. As a result, it is widely speculated that he has instructed his agents to look at options for a return to English football. Manchester United is one of the names that seems to be top of the list. With Jose Mourinho in the manager’s seat, Bale would surely consider joining us.

Two trophies in the 2016-17 season is a sign of the good times coming back to Old Trafford, and it seems like Bale wants to join in this revolution.

After having recently extended his contract with Madrid, the onus is clearly on the club to sell the player. Bale is committed to Madrid until June 2022. As a result, it would take an astronomical sum of money in order to sign the player. It remains to be seen if Chief executive Ed Woodward would sanction such a transfer for a player who is about to turn 28.
