Deal Close – Manchester United Agree Terms With £71 million Superstar Verbally To Land First Summer Signing

James Rodriguez

Manchester United continue to be linked with Real Madrid superstar James Rodriguez, who is reportedly angling for a move away from the Bernabeu after limited game time under Zidane this season. James joined Real Madrid in a £71million deal after an impressive showing in the 2014 world cup in Brazil with the Colombian national team. A lot was expected after his mega-money move but things seem to have gone in a different route.

However, James is believed to be keen on a move away from Real Madrid and it has been claimed by the Spanish media that Manchester United could be the destination. According to Manchester Evening News, Spanish-speaking press and a Colombian radio station claim that the Madrid attacker has verbally agreed to move to United.

This is not the first time that Real Madrid and Manchester United have been linked with a big-money move for each others’ players.

Angel Di Maria made a similar switch when Louis Van Gaal was in charge at Manchester United but could survive only one year in England as he found it too difficult to settle down at Old Trafford. He eventually moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, James Rodriguez could be a different story altogether. Surely, the Colombian is a fighter and not like Angel Di Maria, who simply could not withstand the pressure of wearing the esteemed Manchester United No.7 Jersey. It is an honour to be given the No.7 Jersey and the Argentine missed an opportunity to etch his name into the history books.

James has made 31 appearances so far this season, with a total of around 1700 minutes (approx) on the pitch. He has managed to score 11 goals and 13 assists in those games and the numbers look good despite limited appearances on the pitch.

Signing James Rodriguez would be a statement from Manchester United after a disappointing performance in the league. He would add some unreal quality to the squad and the only question would be if he’d be able to settle down in England or not.

If he does manage to do so, then Manchester United would be a force to reckon with.
