Kylian Mbappe has become one of the most sought-after players in the last few months. Less than a year ago, he was a relatively unknown player outside the French Ligue1. Now, according to Express, Monaco have turned down a £72million bid from Manchester United for the striker. He has grown into prominence this season and has managed to score 16 goals in 30 appearances. His performances have helped Monaco reach the Champions League semi-final and also remain in a title-winning position in the league.

Mbappe has started receiving attention from a number of top clubs across Europe. However, Real Madrid and Manchester United are thought to be the clubs leading the chase. Both clubs are in need of a top striker for different reasons. While United may be without a Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney next season, Madrid are searching for a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema. Even though they brought back Alvaro Morata last summer, the former youth team product has been unable to get much regular first-team football under Zinedine Zidane.

United have already done business with Monaco in the near past with Anthony Martial arriving from Monaco for a huge sum of money. At 18 years of age, he has already attracted such a huge bid from such a huge club. It is not surprising to learn that Monaco have turned down the offer from United.

Jose Mourinho may very well come in with a second bid sooner rather than later. He will be aware that if United do not sign the superstar, any club like Madrid or Barcelona will seize the opportunity. It is not often that a world-class youngster comes to the transfer market.

All interested clubs will be able to take a good look at the player when he lines up against Juventus in the Champions League semi-final once again. This would be another great test for the player, who has scored against Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund in the 4 matches prior to the semifinal.
