Manchester United have reportedly received the news that they have dreaded for a while – the transfer request from David de Gea. There have been a lot of rumours about David de Gea reportedly keen to kickstart the transfer to Real Madrid. It was one of the huge talking points a few years ago before the rumours eventually died after the goalkeeper signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United. Since signing the contract in 2015, the goalkeeper has gone from strength to strength and he is now regarded as one of the best in the world.

Real Madrid are also desperate to sign a top goalkeeper, as manager Zinedine Zidane does not see Keylor Navas as a goalkeeper fit enough to be in goal for a club like Real Madrid. De Gea has been a huge interest to the Spanish club even during his days at Atletico Madrid. However, with his Atletico connections completely forgotten, the Spanish outfit are ready to make a move for the player. He will certainly not be cheap, as United are ready to demand around £60million for his signature. The Red Devils are also aware that they cannot demand too much as the player only has two years left on his contract.

José Mourinho seems to have been looking at a replacement and he has identified Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as a potential replacement. The England number one is out of favour at City, but not due to poor performances. He was evicted from the first team immediately upon the arrival of Pep Guardiola, who did not see his ball playing abilities comparable to Claudio Bravo. However, Hart continues to be one of the best shot-stoppers in the business. He is currently on loan at Torino, thus joining the elite band of English players to have played in the Italian Serie A. However, the move is not expected to be made permanent as Hart is reportedly seeking a return back to England as soon as possible.

Since there is a shortage of top goalkeepers in the world, United are ready to make a swift move for Hart and sign him when he is available. One of the options could be to try signing Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, but the Slovenian is expected to be a hugely expensive proposition. Hart has a contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2019. While City are unlikely to stand in the way of the goalkeeper leaving the club, moving to one of their main rivals could be an area of concern.

Carlos Tevez is the last player to have switched sides between the blue and red half of Manchester.
