Manchester United threw a spanner in the works as they defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho got his tactics spot on as goals from Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera ensured that United still have a chance of making it into the top four come the end of the season.
The surprise was that Ashley Young being named as the captain, even though Marouane Fellaini started the game for the Manchester side.
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea now have a lead of just four points ahead of Tottenham and this performance will worry the Italian manager. United, for their part, didn’t start the game with Zlatan Ibrahimovic but it mattered little as Mourinho got the better of his old team.
The Red Devils now have to prepare for a Europa League clash against Anderlecht on Thursday and this win will certainly give them a lot of confidence going into the final stretch of games.
With Mourinho just opening the door slightly for Tottenham, Twitter was lit up with United fans expressing their joy on the social media network. It all started with Young being the butt of all jokes.
