Manchester United Transfer News

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keeping tabs on Mesut Ozil’s contract situation at Arsenal after the negotiations between the Gunners and Ozil have stalled because of the German’s wage demands, and due to the managerial uncertainty surrounding the Emirates.

Ozil’s contract expires at the end of next summer and Arsenal are under increasing pressure to tie him down to a new contract soon or risk letting him go for free at the end of next season.

Mesut Ozil would be a great buy for Manchester United.

This is not the first time that Manchester United are trying to take advantage of Arsenal’s inability to offer good terms for players.

Nobody can forget the Robin Van Persie saga when the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson closed a deal for the Dutch striker with his contract at Arsenal having only one year left. Eventually, Van Persie turned out to be the trump card in Manchester United’s title triumph in what was the Scot’s last season as Manchester United boss after 26 years of greatness.

The United boss and Ozil worked together at Real Madrid – with Mourinho hailing the 28-year-old as one of the finest talents on the planet. He was quoted as saying:

“Ozil is unique,” he said. “There is no copy of him – not even a bad one. He is the best number 10 in the world.”

With Jose Mourinho being an admirer of Mesut Ozil, the German playmaker spoke out about his future on Mar 12, insisting that his stay at the club has nothing to do with Arsene Wenger’s time at the club.

“I’ve always said that I feel at Arsenal: the club, the fans, the city – it’s all here,” he told Bild (h/t Metro).

“Arsène Wenger was also one of the main reasons why I came to Arsenal. But I also know that it can sometimes go fast in football and much different than you plan. So it would be wrong to say that my future depends only on the coach.”

This statement clearly indicates that he is interested in knowing who the next Arsenal boss would be, before committing his future to the club.

If things don’t go well between Arsenal and Mesut Ozil, the time might just be right for Jose Mourinho to get into the scene and swoop the German away from The Emirates Stadium. It would be a match made in heaven as the pair have already worked together and experienced success.

Would it be a good move from Manchester United to move for Mesut Ozil?
