Manchester United are one of the several clubs interested in Bayern Leverkusen ace Julian Brandt according to the Daily Mail. The German international has managed to cause quite a stir amongst clubs looking for a top quality winger. The 20-year-old was in the ranks of Wolfsburg before moving to Leverkusen’s team in 2014. However, it did not take long for him to get promoted to the starting line-up with the player making his debut for the team aged just 17 in a 2-1 loss against Schalke. He went on to make his Champions League appearance a few days later in the 4-0 defeat against Paris St Germain.

Even though both of his debut games in different competitions ended in a disappointing loss, Leverkusen have stuck with the player and he has responded in brilliant fashion. He has been in scintillating form this season scoring two goals and creating six in 16 appearances. He has been one of the bright spots for the club in an otherwise disappointing campaign, as they continue to struggle in the mid-table positions rather than near the top of the table. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, as clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham, and United are looking to take advantage of Leverkusen’s struggles.

Julian Brandt has a contract with the club only until the summer of 2019, which makes his situation even more precarious. Leverkusen are very keen on extending his contract, but there has been no progress in the new deal so far. As the interest from the Premier League clubs ramp up, Brandt will already be taking a look at some of the big names to have completed a move from Bundesliga to the Premier League in recent seasons. Names like Roberto Firmino and Leroy Sane will provide Brandt with confidence that he can settle in the English top division.

A player like Brandt would be able to fill in the role of Anthony Martial, who has just been linked with a move to Sevilla. The French international has failed to hit the heights as expected when the club paid more than £40 million for his signature. He has been recently linked with a move to Sevilla, although these are the first rumours surrounding his future. At just 21 years of age, United are likely to stick with him for a little longer.

Brandt primary plays on the left-wing, but he can also play as an attacking midfielder or on the right wing. The 20-year-old has contributed a goal or assist in six out of the last nine matches in all competitions for the German outfit.

Even though Chelsea scouts were also seen in the game between Leverkusen and FC Cologne, it is understood that they are looking at Hakan Calhanoglu rather than Brandt.
