Fantastic Valencia – The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester United Players vs Arsenal

Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger shake hands

Two bitter rivals clashed in an intense match at Old Trafford and the spoils were shared. Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were on top throughout the game giving blow after blow for Arsenal. Off the ball, the pressure and defence was terrific and on it, United played a fearless attacking football and almost threatened at every given opportunity. It looked as if that the home side will draw first blood and the home side did. A lovely movement from Paul Pogba down right flank saw him then free up Herrera who crossed inside a fantastic ball and Juan Mata finished beating Cech easily but the finish was never so easy as it looked like. Just as it looked like Jose was stretching his unbeaten run over Arsene once more, a substitution by the Frenchman saw Giroud enter and then he delivered a sucker punch right as the match was drawing to an end with a bullet of a header from a pin-point accurate cross supplied by Chamberlain. United were the better team and once again after a commendable performance, it’s two points dropped rather than one gained.

Here are the player ratings for team United :-

GK : David De Gea – 5/10

He was rarely tested in the game and was helpless as Giroud’s header beat him.

RB : Antonio Valencia – 8/10

Surprised everyone having made a quick recovery from his hand fracture and what a magnificently sizzling performance! Valencia has been like a revelation in his new role. Schooled Monreal the entire game and shredded Arsenal down the right. Hope these performances continue.

CB : Phil Jones – 6/10

Manchester United defender Phil Jones (L) vies with Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey

Not tested much but did look composed and calm whenever he got the ball. He’s back on the path of form and fitness surely.

CB : Marcos Rojo – 7/10

Never allowed any of Arsenal’s top players to threaten and kept winning challenges until the end. Another dominantly impressive display!

LB : Matteo Darmian  – 6.5/10

Got harsh booking and was withdrawn in the second half. Did very well against Walcott.

CM : Ander Herrera – 9/10

A player visibly all over Arsenal and he was a sensation in every aspect of midfield play. A well-earned assist as well. Man of the match without a doubt.

CM : Michael Carrick – 7/10

Made notable interceptions in the midfield and brought about a calmness to proceedings as usual. A disciplined performance from the veteran midfielder.

CM : Paul Pogba – 7.5/10

Growing strong in the midfield play and adding sheer quality to the midfield with his talent.

Juan Mata celebrates scoring the opening goal of the game

RW : Juan Mata – 8.5/10

Creative, skilful and once again ever so productive when the chance came. Another bright performance from the Spanish maestro.

LW : Anthony Martial – 6.5/10

Was quite and didn’t look impressive. Was subbed early in second half.

ST : Marcus Rashford – 7/10

His pace and movements were a threat for Arsenal. Hugely responsible for the goal United conceded, though.
