Jose Mourinho: Don’t Expect Wild Celebrations against Chelsea -United Manager Talks About Abramovic, Stamford Bridge And More

rooney-and-mourinho

This weekend, Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge for only the second time as an opposition manager. The former Chelsea boss will be bringing his Manchester United team in the search for three points. As someone who chases and wins trophies as often as anybody else, Mourinho will be thinking only about three points on Sunday. However, it looks like he will be extra careful with his celebrations considering that he is about to enter a place that he is considered as a legend. In his two spells with Chelsea, Mourinho won the Premier league thrice and several other domestic honours.

Mourinho has always been an emotional person – especially when his team’s score – on the dugout. After all, the Portuguese announced himself to English football with a famous run down the touchline after his FC Porto team had scored against Manchester United in the Champions League. All eyes will be on the manager if Manchester United have something to cheer about in the game on Sunday. However, Mourinho says that his emotions will be check considering his relationship with Chelsea fans. Speaking to club’s official website, he said:

“I have to try to forget it and try to do the job, you know? I played there with Inter and I tried to do my job.

“If you ask me if my team scores a goal, am I going to celebrate like a crazy kid? No! I think I can emotionally control that situation.

“Am I going to have any negative reaction if the crowd has something negative with me? No! Again, I have the maturity to control that emotion.”

Chelsea fans have already seen Mourinho in the opposition dugout but only once. Back then, he got the better of Carlo Ancelotti to eliminate the West London outfit from the Champions League. There may not be any such disastrous consequences coming out of the game this weekend. Chelsea are only three points off the top despite having already lost twice in the league. However, Antonio Conte’s reputation is at stake after having already lost the two big matches this season.

Chelsea have been able to remain in the hunt for the league title, but winning the big matches is the sign of a great manager. Having learnt from the games against Liverpool and Arsenal, Chelsea will not want to make a slow start to the game. United are highly likely to use the same tactics as the game against Liverpool. The team would be pressing high and would have numbers at the back, but they will be extremely potent on the counter-attack with the likes of Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The improvement of the club’s recent form following back-to-back wins against Hull City and Leicester City gives the home team a lot of confidence. Especially important is the fact that they have managed to keep a clean sheet in both of these games while managing to score five goals. Diego Costa and Eden Hazard are in excellent form, but the opposition manager knows a thing or two about keeping them quiet.
