Often in the established and elite clubs, competition amongst players for places is always on a high and depending upon a manager’s liking, a player gets left out or vice versa. Similar is the case in Manchester United with Jose Mourinho at the helm. Players often find themselves to be in a spot of bother by being benched frustratingly for them and also they risk losing their national places unless something happens but as things stand they become likelier to leave this arriving January window itself. A transfer window is often a place of decisions, negotiations and movement and with the right interest and a good choice a player can resurrect his diminishing career. From all the circumstances currently unraveling at Old Trafford, two Manchester United players look to be the favourites to leave the coming January Window.

1) Matteo Darmian

darmian

Darmian’s agent has already made it clear that if not given chances, the player could move away from United in January with interest from Italian teams becoming certain.  Darmian made 39 appearances last season for Louis Van Gaal having been bought for less than 13 million Euros approximately but under Mourinho, he’s featured in only one game which was in United’s loss to Feyenoord in the Europa League.

Antonio Valencia’s really bright start this season as a right back has already diminished Darmian’s chances but Mourinho has given indications that youngster Fosu Mensah would be their secondary choice for the right-back position. This leaves Darmian in jeopardy and one major blow will be him losing his place in the national side if this continues.  According to Darmian’s agent, United closed the door immediately when Italian clubs came calling but in the coming January window, the story could be something else. Napoli have emerged as the biggest club from Italy to express their desire to rope in Darmian and if this goes on then Darmian is surely going to leave.

2) Memphis Depay

Depay

Memphis Depay’s move from PSV to Manchester United was seen as a platform for one of Dutch’s biggest talent to develop and take his career to heights. As soon as chances came and went, Depay’s struggle on the English Soil has become very evident. Summer signings from Jose Mourinho which include Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have bolstered United’s attack and on the other side, there is also an emergence of developing stars such as Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford which have seriously given a blow to Memphis Depay’s chances at United.

This season under Jose Mourinho, Depay has made only three appearances and that too not full ones. He has struggled to make any impact during his playing time and with the competition getting tougher and tougher, the odds are well stacked against the youngster. A healthy offer in January from any top European Club can price away Depay but United fans would only hope that the youngster stays, gets chances and delivers.
