Ander Herrera

A cloud of huge excitement is buzzing around the corners of the Theatre of Dreams as the Reds are now preparing themselves for the Premier League showdown, and the confidence in the veins of the players as well as the manager, can be clearly seen. The new gaffer has set his sights on the titles and even the new signings are helping his cause.

The club recently concluded the most awaited deal of the summer, #Pogback, but the French midfielder has been suspended for the first game of the new season following his two yellow cards issued in last season’s Coppa Italia. And now, this has left the Portuguese gaffer in a state of bewilderment.

Now, with all the four signings done, many believe that it is the time to assess the squad from the start. This is no secret that the current United team is studded with some stellar names, and thanks to the arrivals some superstars, the first team chances of the preceding players will hinder. One such player is Herrera who might struggle to get into the starting XI regularly this season.

The Daily Star has recently suggested that Manchester United’s Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera is being monitored by Pogba’s former club, Juventus. The 26-year-old has been trying to cement his place in the starting line-up since his arrival from Athletic Bilbao back in 2014 but has been struggling to do the same.

ESPN has further reported that Jose Mourinho has been told to offload as many players as he can if he tends to strengthen his squad further and many believe that Ander Herrera is one of them. Well, the 26-year-old midfielder isn’t the most coveted playmaker in the industry, but he certainly is a priced possession for the team.

He cannot really challenge for the top spot, especially with Pogba’s signing done, but we are aware of the fact that the European nights will get hosted at the Theatre of Dreams next campaign. As a central/attacking midfielder, Manchester United have the new signing Pogba as the first choice and for the cover, they do not really have a concrete option.

Yes, they do have Marouane Fellaini, but the Belgian is good for nothing to be honest. Besides him, they have Schneiderlin, but the Frenchman’s top quality is only reflected when deployed as a defensive midfielder because he lacks the pace and the end product to be working on a box-to-box role.

Furthermore, Ander Herrera is that rare breed, who can work from almost every midfield area. Even the great Paul Scholes applauded Herrera as the best signing for Manchester United back in 2014. All in all, the 26-year-old has all the qualities that could make him an architect, of course after Carrick. Yes, he does has his flaws, but being a Spanish breed, his reading of the game is what makes him perfect.

Besides all of this, his work rate is something that Mourinho will love. He is known to cover every grass of the pitch and even after that, he is ready to serve. The explosive box-to-box star, technically and practically speaking, is unarguably a perfect Mourinho-player and keeping him into the squad will only benefit the Devils to some extent.
