Why Manchester United Should Avoid Signing This West Ham Talisman

While Manchester United players are preparing themselves for the next season of the Premier League, some crazy rumours are forming around the Old Trafford. Manchester United, currently, are on the verge of completing the most awaited transfer of their former midfielder Paul Pogba from Juventus, while there are reports claiming that Jose Mourinho is looking for more.

Manchester United’s long-term target James Rodriguez has recently stated that he will not be leaving the Galacticos and will be fighting for the spot, therefore, the links have been shifted elsewhere. Now, according to the recent reports, Manchester United are lining up a shocking €60m bid for West Ham United’s star attacker, Dimitri Payet.

The player, who had a great season with the Hammers have been on the radar of many top clubs, but recently, the player himself stated that he will not be leaving the club, but his agent has fuelled up the speculation by denying the possibility. Jacques Olivier Auguste, Dimitri Payet’s agent, recently stated:

“I am surprised by this information because Dimitri has not done an interview with any media outlet,” Auguste said.

“The only thing that is certain is that he is enjoying his holiday, that he deserves, and he is licking the wounds caused by the Euro 2016 final defeat.”

If his words are to be believed then a move to Old Trafford is on the card for sure. But do Manchester United really need Payet?

Well, I really don’t think so that Manchester United, right at this very moment, need the French trickster, the reason being, his positioning. Payet, who scored three goals in the Euro 2016, had a great season in the Premier League last term, but his addition in to the Devils’ squad, might hinder the game time of the other contenders. There is no doubt that the player can play a variety of roles in the midfield, but Manchester United already have options available.

If the manager decides to play him on the wings, then the team have Martial, Memphis, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Lingard and even Marcos Rashford could play there, hence, his arrival will only mob the squad even more.

But besides all of it, if Payet decides to leave the Hammers, the side will suffer and no player wants his previous side to suffer. Jose Mourinho recently stated that that Mata does have a future at United, so, spending big money on Payet makes no sense. Even if he joins United, the29-year-old will have to be guaranteed a first team football and if the Devils do that, either Martial or Mkhitaryan will be dropped from the starting spot, and looking at the current situation, it is Martial, who will have to suffer.

There is no doubt that the Frenchman is one hell of a player but Manchester is really not the best destination for him at the moment.
