Can This Long Lasting Cold War Solved Finally? This Time At Manchester United

paul-pogba

As per latest reports, United are in negotiations with Juventus to sign Paul Pogba. The boy, who left the club four years ago, is now the subject of the most expensive transfer in the history of football. There still are major issues that need to be sorted out now, as recently, Pogba’s agent stated that there is nothing going on between his client and Manchester United.

While on the other hand, Sky Sports reported that Manchester United started their bid for the player at 85m, but the offer was rejected by the Turin-based club and stated that they will only accept the offers at around 100m. Even if United manage to sign Pogba, who in the present squad will make a way for him in the starting lineup?

Now, soon after the arrival of Jose Mourinho was announced, it was reported that the very first player to be offloaded will be Juan Mata and Daley Blind. Well, until now, no player from the senior squad has been offloaded and very recently, Jose Mourinho even hinted that Mata won’t be sold out.

“He’s here and he works hard,” Mourinho said. “He knows that I know he is a good player and he has space in the squad.”

This is what Mourinho said about Mata. We all know how the controversy fueled between Juan Mata and Jose Mourinho at their time in Chelsea and that was when the term ‘Luxury Player’ came into life. Mata responded with style, but since then, the entire scene has been closed.

We all know what Juan Mata is capable of, don’t we? It is fair to say that Juan is one of the most creative footballers in the league and the Spaniard is surely looking for more. There were rumours that Mata will be transferred to Everton, but we’re pretty sure that this is what Manchester United fans will never want to happen.

It is clear that Mata is a fan favourite and it will remain so, maybe forever. The arrival of Mkhitaryan at the club has surely endangered his game time, but looking at the fact that there is Europa league to play for, then we can say that Mata can at least make 35-40 appearances in all competition next season.

Yes, we do admit that the majority of those appearances will come as a substitute, but given the record of injuries Manchester United are facing these days, Mata can become a vital player for the side. Juan is not the fastest players in the league, but his vision can easily cut the opposition’s defence apart.

The Spaniard is capable of scoring some extraordinary free kicks and his game building is what he is majorly known for. It is hard to comment anything regarding his starting role, but if Mkhitaryan is shifted to the left, then Mata can be deployed on the right, while Rooney will haunt the defences from the centre.

It is safe to say that the player and the manager are enjoying their lives with each other, and we might see Mata shining under Mourinho this time around.
