Luke Shaw’s road to recovery is finally complete having been out for 10 months after breaking his leg against PSV Eindhoven on September 15, 2015.
The 21-year-old left-back was a big miss for Manchester United last season with his understudy, Marcos Rojo failing miserably to live up to the former Southampton man’s heights.
He has been working hard to ensure his return for the 2016-17 season. Jose Mourinho has publicized that the defender even opted against a summer break to continue with his rehabilitation process. He has paid tribute to Luke Shaw’s work ethic after the left-back returned to action following 10 months on the sidelines.
Shaw’s presence in the team might have been taken a little bit for granted then, but right after the match against PSV, the overall performance and form of the team started to go downhill. Also because of the several injuries that took place one after the other, but there’s no denying that Shaw’s absence on the left-flank made the team much weaker than anyone would’ve thought. Even Memphis seemed to miss the former Southampton defender as his form and display went south, and was massively criticized for being a failure.
Luke Shaw offers the pace and composure which no one else does in the team. His work rate even at attacking is very high, and never fails to complete his defensive duties.
He has a very positive style of play as a left back. His pace, control, dribbling ability is top notch and are just a sectional of some of his very exciting characteristics. He is someone who will looks to get into the space on the left wing when his team is attacking in order for him to get on the ball and take the opposition on.
Luke Shaw has been labeled as the “next Gareth Bale” by some pundits and legends of the past and one can believe why. Meanwhile, there have been rumours of a potential reunion of Cesar Azpilicueta and Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The versatile 26-year-old, who can play in both full-back positions, has three years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, but his future is seen as being in doubt with incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte keen on Juventus left-back Kwadwo Asamoah, who can also play in midfield.
Luke Shaw’s place in the starting XI might be in doubts if the Spanish full back does indeed, moves to United. However, given the skills and attributes Shaw possesses, it might even get tough for Azpilicueta to get a decent amount of game-time.
Luke Shaw is considerably lesser experienced than the Chelsea’s full-back but is much more capable and can provide his team with well-timed tackles and counter attacks much better than Cesar.
