Are Manchester United Still In The Need To Sign This Real Madrid Sensation?

Pogba

It seems like Manchester United are now ready to splash a world record bid for their former midfielder Paul Pogba. According to the recent reports from Sky Sports, Manchester United finally made an official offer for Paul Pogba, but he Turin based club rejected the bid and told the Devils only a world-record transfer fee in excess of £100m for the France midfielder would be accepted.

The transfer is on the verge on completion and many reports have even stated that the player himself have told the club that he wants to leave. The Devils offered Juventus £85m for the player during a meeting between their executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, and Juventus general manager and CEO Giuseppe Marotta, but now it seems United will fire their all cylinders to grab the player.

Well, that will complete the pack Jose Mourinho was talking about. He previously stated that he would sign four players to challenge for the title and now it is very much understood that Pogba is his final target.

Signing Pogba will surely be a great deal for the club, as they will finally get a perfect replacement for Paul Scholes. Previously, it was reported that Jose Mourinho is looking to end James Rodriguez’s Real Madrid misery by bringing him to the Old Trafford. The news took hype, but nothing has been concluded till date.

It is understood that the Columbian international has totally lost his place in the starting lineup and thanks to the brilliance of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. At one point of time in this year itself, he was heavily linked with Manchester United, but now with Paul Pogba coming into the squad; do Manchester United really need James now?

James

The answer would be a big NO! The 25-year-old Columbian international is one of the most talented players in the sport, but there is no real place in the squad right now. With Pogba arriving at the Theatre of dreams, it is obvious that he would be playing at the centre of the park; either as a central midfielder or as an attacking midfielder. And taking the point in mind that Rooney is no longer a number 8, it  is safe to say that Pogba will be Manchester United’s new central midfielder.

There is no way that Mourinho will bench Rooney, hence, buying James into the squad makes no sense. James is a creative and versatile player, he could easily adopt himself as an attacking winger, but for that too, the Devils have Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, so the Columbian will have to fight for the place in United as well.

It is sure that he needs to leave Real Madrid to have some proper game time, and for that, Manchester United is surely not the answer. His arrival at the club will only make the midfield more congested. The player has got some serious attacking instinct, but that could be utilized at the club, where he could feature as a regular starter, not as a super sub.

As stated earlier, his arrival at the Theatre of Dream will only make the team more congested and that could frustrate the current squad members and James as well. Maybe, if not for Mkhitaryan, then James’ transfer would have made sense, but right at this very moment, this does not.
