So Mourinho has made it clear that the Thursday night Europa League is not where United should be.
His priority this season is to qualify for the Champions League by winning the Premier League title.
The United boss said: “To finish fourth in the Premier League is not the aim.
“Last season was the only one in my whole career when I have not been fighting for the title.
“I know my responsibility here. I am now the manager of the biggest club in the UK. But I’m not nervous and that’s because of my history of meeting the expectations of big clubs.”
It was a very superior feeling for the fans to hear such words from Jose Mourinho as Manchester United is indeed the biggest club in the Premier League and also one of the biggest in the world despite the performance in recent years.
There’s no need to argue with this statement as the history and facts show us why.

Well, if one is supposed to judge the best club of a league so far, the first thing they’d usually consider is the tally of the titles. 20 times winner of the most competitive domestic league in the world, United simply takes the prize and the honor of being labelled as the biggest club in the UK.

Fans
Manchester United probably has one of the best fans in the whole world. United supporters get a lot of stick about being ‘glory hunters’ or ‘plastics’ and there is no denying that when a club is as successful as they’ve been, they will get people who jump on the bandwagon.
But then one would also expect that after dominating football in England for over two decades the fans would turn against the team when the success started to dry up. But it didn’t happen so even after 3 years of mediocre football. United fans are the loudest and the theatre of dreams is always in almost full attendance unlike the local rivals.

Probably the best point in the defence of Mourinho’s statement. Manchester United have got if not the richest but one of the richest history in football. The club who wasn’t even on the map of being known outside of England conquered the football world within two decades.
The sudden boom in their glory which they had cannot be matched by any other club at the moment.
Manchester United have had tons and tons of players who ended their career with the tag of being called a “legend”. And not to forget the two people the club and the fans have always been thankful to apart from the players; Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson.
The club has produced some of the greatest talents the world has ever seen. They started winning titles and bossing other giant clubs in the new era of the Premier League and there’s no stopping them.
