4-3-3? Here Is What Manchester United Will Look Like If They Completes Their Fourth Sigining

After three years of unbearably slow football, it seems that United are likely to regain their identity of fast flowing football. With Jose Mourinho at the helm, we are extremely likely to see a side which is tactically wise, plays swift counter attacking football and isn’t afraid to take chances. Possession based football under Louis van Gaal didn’t go so well for us, and it’s time we changed our philosophy. However, to implement models, you also need players capable of executing it well, and here is one such formation the Portugese could use to set up his team:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea

The Spanish goalkeeper will undoubtedly be Jose’s rock at the last line of defence, and he will hope that de Gea washes off his disappointing run at the Euros with a good show for the club.

Back four: Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw

With Luke Shaw set to return next season and Matteo Darmian impressing for Italy at the Euros, Jose could have two extremely lethal fullbacks at his disposal. Both of them have bags of energy and are tactically well versed, while the centre back combination of Smalling and new signing Bailly should gel well since they will form the ideal ball playing and hard tackling defenders at the heart of the back four.

Midfield: Paul Pogba, Morgan Schneiderlin and Wayne Rooney

If United do end up buying Pogba, we will easily have one of the best midfields in England. Rooney and Schneiderlin will provide the vision and tackling, while Pogba will be the energetic box to box midfielder who links the attack with the midfield.

Forwards: Anthony Martial, Zlatan Ibhrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan

United’s front three could potentially destroy any defence, particularly with the pace of the Frenchman, the experience of the Swede and the vision of the Armenian is clicked together. It’s likely that Martial will start on the left, Mkhitaryan on the right and Zlatan in the centre, but it’s certain that they will all be interchanging positions to drag defenders out of position.

A 4-3-3 is likely the most possible formation that the former Real Madrid manager is gonna use, and there’s no reason for him not to. Having the likes of Ander Herrera, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and Marcus Rashford on the bench, this will also give him a host of options to tweak and change his game plan at any point of time, which is a further plus.
