The media never stops linking players to Manchester United, and with Jose Mourinho ready to take over as manager, the rumours are endless. Most of them are baseless, and some are purely speculative. However, a handful of them make sense, because they not only look feasible but are also positions in which United need to improve. Keeping that in mind, here are the 3 players United could look to sign to strengthen the squad:
1. Willian
The Brazilian has been one of Chelsea’s stand out players in what has been a wretched season for the Blues, and it was Mourinho who signed him for 30 million back in 2013. The hardworking winger, who mostly features on the right displaced the far more gifted Andre Schurrle from the squad, and has also won the league under the Portugese manager. 60 million pounds is what the Stamford Bridge outfit have asked for him, and it remains to be seen if we go after him or not.
2. Antoine Griezmann
The Frenchman has been sensational this season, netting in a total number of 31 times and taking his Atletico team to the Champions League final. L’Equipe are claiming that the France international’s agent Eric Olhats says Griezmann’s future might not necessarily be at the Vicente Calderon. He said: “Contrary to certain claims announcing that Antoine at Atletico next season will be the case without fail, nothing has been decided or endorsed. We are currently listening to different clubs who also offer real interest and attraction.”
3. Gonzalo Higuain
Mourinho has apparently telephoned Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain ‘s agent to register his interest in the 28-year-old, fresh from ending the Serie A season as the league’s top scorer. The Argentine scored 36 goals in 35 games for the Neapolitans, however his age might count against him and, if he was so superb he would already be at a more eminent club than Napoli.
