Last year Jose Mourinho was sacked mid-season for lack of stability in the Chelsea team. In all fairness, the Portuguese was desperate to sign John Stones from Everton but the Chelsea management could not make it happen. Many believe that things would have been different if Stones had arrived at Chelsea.
Now as per Daily Star, Chelsea have cooled their interest in the Everton defender and it will come as a huge boost to Manchester United. The Red Devils are looking for a suitable partner for Chris Smalling and John Stones could be it. Chris Smalling has done well this season but his partnership has not been stable with any player given the injuries the squad is facing. While several defenders across Europe are being linked with Manchester United, Stones will probably be the best bet as the player checks several boxes to United liking such as age, nationality, familiarity with the league to name a few.
Manchester City and Barcelona are also interested in the player but if it is a question of money then United should be willing to go toe to toe for the player against any other team in the world.
