Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi has revealed that he could have signed for Manchester United in the January transfer window. The player moved from PSG to Hebei China Fortune in the Chinese Super League.
Now while speaking to Canal+ the player has mentioned that he could have moved to one of big European clubs rather than moving to China but decided sign for the far eastern club instead. He also realizes that it means his chances of playing for Argentina has been severely diminished. His contract was about to be expired with PSG this summer and there were wide speculation about his transfer during the January transfer window with United, Chelsea, Arsenal all being linked with the player.
The player had three goals in 24 appearances for the Paris Saint-Germain so far this season before moving to China. Lavezzi is one of the players among many other European stars to have made a move to Chinese Super League with the eastern clubs wanting to make marquee signings.
Speaking at the interview he said, “I could have signed for Inter Milan, Chelsea or Manchester United, but I decided to make the decision of going to China. It’s an important step for my career. I’m sure I’ll face many challenges here.”
