Manchester Evening News has reported that Manchester United are interested in Riyad Mahrez and are preparing to bring the player to Old Trafford in the summer.
Mahrez, the 24 year old Algerian international, has been one of the surprise package of the season and is one of the favorites to win the PFA player of the season award. The player has scored 15 goals so far in this season and has been a key contributor in their club’s title challenge.
The player’s agent also has revealed that there is interest in his client from big European clubs, but refused to name any particular club. ‘Today I can say that all the big European clubs are interested in his services, but as you can imagine, I cannot mention yet,’ Kamel Bengougam told Le Buteur.
The Red Devils on the other hand, are having a contrasting season where they have struggled to score goals in the beginning of the season and now are struggling to defend well. There is a wide speculation that Van Gaal will not be finishing the season given that United are 6 points away from a Champions League spot with 12 games remaining.
