Scouting For Manchester United – 3 Players Who Should Be Shown The Exit Door At Old Trafford

It’s been yet another underwhelming season for Manchester United. They’ve been far too inconsistent and that’s left them struggling to finish in the top four. At one stage they were taking on Leicester in a top of the table clash, but a horrible December and variable January has left them 6 points off 4th. While much of their woes have been blamed on Louis Van Gaal, and to an extent the form of Wayne Rooney in the first half of the season, the team as a whole has really disappointed.

They’ve looked flat at times, playing without any passion or desire and the United fans and pundits alike have not held back with their criticism. It’s been almost three seasons now without United mounting a serious title challenge and apart from getting rid of some players, they need to send out a few of the talented youngsters on loan. These are three players who United should get rid of in the summer:

  1. Marouane Fellaini

Marouane Fellaini

The big Belgian has a received a lot of criticism so far this season and deservedly so. Although he’s put in two decent performances in the last two games versus Stoke and Chelsea, he’s had a poor season overall. Fellaini is at his best when he’s playing behind the striker, creating chaos in the box, dominating set pieces, giving United another attacking dimension. However, he’s being played as a defensive midfielder a lot and this was Moyes’ mistake as well. He’s not tracked back enough and it’s cost United multiple times.

His poor marking allowed Norwich to score on the counter helping them defeat United at Old Trafford. When he has higher up though, his finishing has been ridiculously poor. He missed at least 5 simple chances that cost United points. When a team is creating so little, you must take any chance you get. He’s a decent player and it’s sad that he hasn’t been able to make a massive impact, but he doesn’t look like a player good enough for Manchester United.
