Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria has mentioned to L’Equipe that he wants to forget his days at Manchester United.
The Argentine signed for United on a €75m deal and was transferred back to PSG for €63 the next year. During his one year tenure at United he scored just three league goals and had been branded “flop”. But the player has now regained his form and mentioned that he is very disappointed with the way things turned up at Manchester and would like to forget what has happened.
He said,
“Manchester was a sad experience. Things didn’t go as I hoped, and I was disappointed… Honestly, I don’t even remember everything that happened to me, and I don’t want to remember. I am happy to be here and this is the most important.”
His transfer was amidst a lot of fanfare and big expectation. After playing a key role in Real Madird’s victory in Champions League the Argentine was expected to light things up in United. He did so in the beginning but then things began to go downhill for him. The resurgence of Ashley Young and Louis Van Gaal’s ideologies are probably two reason he found it difficult professionally. Then to top it all there was a break-in at his home which left his family scared for their lives. Now the player just wants to forget everything and move on.
