With winter transfer window open, one hoped that Louis van Gaal would go forth and pick up a few players who would provide atleast stop gap solutions to Manchester United’s problems. However, that has not been the case, with the Dutchman clearly mentioning that he won’t buy unless it is an absolute requirement.
The Red Devils have always produced the best wingers in the world, be it George Best or David Beckham or Cristiano Ronaldo. However, of late, the team has suffered from a severe dearth of quality wide men, with the current lot of Adnan Januzaj, Juan Mata, Memphis Depay and Ashley Young all being too young or much less gifted than their illustrious predecessors. Antoine Griezmann | Atletico Madrid
The 24 year old is one of the game’s hottest prospects at the moment. With a lightning pace, great technical ability and excellent heading skills. Antoine Griezmann has already scored 45 goals in his last two full seasons at Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad. The Frenchman fulfills every requirement United would need from their winger, and then some.
He will of course come at a hefty price tag, but most will agree that he will be worth every penny and could even lead us to a title next season. He does have detractors, though only a handful of them, who label him as a flat-track bully, and if the blond-haired wide man does come here, he will be able to silence his critics by putting across his world class talent against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal regularly.
